Start with safety and acuity

Priority questions usually reward immediate risk recognition. Airway, breathing, circulation, unstable findings, new symptoms, and safety threats come before routine tasks.

Use scope rules for delegation

Delegate stable, predictable, routine tasks to the right role. Keep assessment, teaching, clinical judgment, and evaluation with the nurse responsible for those decisions.

Common traps

Do not choose documentation, comfort, teaching, or non-urgent communication when the stem gives an immediate safety or physiologic problem.

Practice plan

Use short drills with rationales, then review why the distractors are attractive but incomplete.
